At Evotec’s headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, the Neuroinflammation group within the Translational Neurosciences department is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Research Scientist (all genders).

Responsibilities:
- Identify and validate potential glial drug targets for treating neurodegenerative diseases.
- Scientifically lead and support early-stage drug discovery projects.
- Establish high-quality biochemical and/or immunoassays using iPSC-derived glial cells, neurons, primary cells, or cell lines.
- Independently design, perform, analyze, and troubleshoot in vitro experiments; interpret data with biostatistical methods and present findings.
- Coordinate project activities independently and present to internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay up to date with cutting-edge science in neuroinflammation to drive project performance.
- Contribute intellectually and technically to cross-functional drug development teams.
- Line-manage a team of research assistants, including mentoring, performance reviews, and development support.
- Collaborate with project teams and clients to meet goals on time.
- Deliver reports, documents, and presentations with accuracy and in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Neurobiology or related field, with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases/neuroinflammation and relevant professional experience (industry experience is a plus).
- Proven track record of independent contributions in neuroinflammation research.
- Technical expertise in complex in vitro models of neuroinflammation, cell signaling, immunoassays, CRISPR/Cas9 screening, human disease genetics, and Omics data analysis.
- Strong background in translational research techniques including molecular biology, immunoassay platforms, and Omics data interpretation.
- Experience with disease-relevant models, particularly iPSC-derived glial cells.
- Determined approach to assay development with a focus on reproducibility and quality.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills; able to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Experience mentoring or leading junior staff; ability to manage a small team.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset.
- Fluency in English is required; German is a plus.
