Qualifikationen

About us:

The Digital Social Science working group at the University of Oldenburg serves as a bridge to Computational Social Science. It researches social science, particularly political science questions using digital methods, such as machine learning, automated text analysis and the collection of data from web sources.


Your tasks:
  • a teaching obligation in the scope of currently 2.6 LVS
  • participation in research proposals as well as in existing research and development projects of the specialist group
  • the conception and implementation of research work for your own scientific qualification (with fit to the content focus of the specialist group);
  • the supervision of students and tutorials, examination of exams, seminar and qualification papers, planning and further development of the study program as well as
  • tasks in academic self-administration

Your profile:

Employment requirements:

  • successfully completed university studies (Master of Arts/Science, Diploma (Uni)) in Social Sciences, particularly Political Science, Communication Science or a comparable relevant field
  • solid experience and knowledge in quantitative data analysis, demonstrated through independent empirical work in studies or first publications
  • Empirically oriented working method
  • Content fit into the working group

Advantageous are:

  • First experience in teaching (for example as a tutor)
  • Knowledge in R and/or Python demonstrated through example code in repositories (e.g. GitHub) or written work
  • Basic knowledge of webscraping, NLP etc.
  • Very good English skills
