The Hamburg Center for Health Economics is seeking a part-time Research Associate to engage in teaching and research, particularly within the domain of Physical Activity and Neurocognition. Your responsibilities

Research associates will be expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The research associate will also have the opportunity to pursue further academic qualifications, in particular a doctoral dissertation. At least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the research associate’s own academic work.

  • collaboration in research projects in the field of ‘Physical Activity and Neurocognition’ - neuroscientific processes and health correlates of physical activity are investigated in the research laboratory
  • participation in and use of the laboratories of the Health Science department (e.g. EEG, fNIRS, EMG, SC, eye tracking, facial expression, ECG)
  • planning, conducting and analysing experiments/studies
  • presentation of studies at international conferences
  • publications in international journals with peer review process
  • support in acquiring third-party funding
  • teaching in the field of health science (2 LVS)
  • collaboration in academic self-administration
  • academic qualification (PhD)

Your profile

A university degree in a relevant field.

  • very good university degree in psychology, neuroscience, exercise/sport science, health science (or related subject areas) (level: Master's degree, diploma, state examination)
  • familiarity with the publication process in scientific journals
  • strong interest (and experience) in experimental neuroscience research
  • several years of experience in dealing with at least one neuropsychological measurement method (e.g. EEG, fNIRS, fMRI)
  • very good knowledge of methods, programming and quantitative statistics (e.g. R, Matlab, Python, PsychoPy, SPSS)
  • very good knowledge of English
  • strong teamwork and communication skills, high level of commitment, initiative and willingness to learn
