Digitization poses major challenges for society, business, and politics. In order to shape it successfully, many practice-relevant research questions of cybersecurity and privacy protection need to be addressed.
The National Research Center for Applied Cyber Security ATHENE is a research institution of the Fraunhofer Society, with the participation of the Fraunhofer Institutes SIT and IGD as well as the universities TU Darmstadt and Hochschule Darmstadt. In a hitherto unique and innovative model of cooperation between university and non-university research, ATHENE conducts cutting-edge research for the benefit of the economy, society, and state and sets scientific impulses.
Fraunhofer SIT is one of the leading research institutions for IT security in Germany and Europe. The focus is on applied research and the development of innovative solutions for real security and data protection issues.

What You Will Do

To strengthen the Testlab Mobile Security department, we are looking for motivated employees with sound knowledge in the field of IT security. Tasks include deep static software analysis using newly developed tools for native iOS apps, for example. The goal is both the detection of errors and anomalies in the examined software as well as the evaluation of software quality characteristics. Here, the focus of the work is on the application and transformation of analysis approaches to the target platforms and their practical implementation. For this, we need support from motivated employees who would like to contribute their own ideas and research new methods with us.

What You Bring

  • Passion for IT security
  • Sound knowledge or experience in the field of mobile security or classic IT security
  • Knowledge or experience in static software analysis
  • Practical application experience in the field of disassemblers and debuggers
  • Knowledge of processor architectures, software development, compiler construction, machine languages, or assembly
  • Programming experience in several languages
  • Good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken.
  • A university degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field

The position is initially limited to 2 years. A long-term employment is aimed for. The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position can also be filled part-time. Severely disabled persons will be given preference if they are equally qualified. We would like to point out that the chosen job title also includes the third gender. The Fraunhofer Society values gender-independent professional equality. Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits are based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally, Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
