The University of Greifswald’s Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences is seeking candidates for the position of Junior Professor (W1) of Biomathematics (without tenure track), with the earliest possible appointment. Biomathematics, along with algebra, geometry & topology, scientific computing & computer science, and the didactics of mathematics, is one of the four key research fields at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science. This is reflected in the unique biomathematics degree programme at bachelor’s and master’s levels in Germany.
The successful candidate will strengthen the institute’s research in biomathematics, with desirable contributions in mathematical phylogenetics or biomathematical modelling. The institute values intensive supervision of students; therefore, demonstrated teaching experience and success in obtaining third-party funding are preferred. The university supports family-friendly leadership.
Qualifications include a university degree, teaching aptitude, and a doctoral degree demonstrating expertise. The appointment is for three years as a temporary civil servant, renewable after positive evaluation.
Applications are encouraged from all genders, with a particular welcome for women and severely disabled applicants, to promote diversity. Application costs are not reimbursed.
Applicants should submit all relevant documents (CV, publication list, teaching experience, funding details, teaching concept, research proposals) as a single PDF via email by 23 June 2025.
