Offer Description

Within the Machine Learning Group at the University of Greifswald’s Institute of Data Science in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, a full-time Research Assistant position is available for the earliest possible appointment for a limited period of 36 months. An extension is possible. Payment will be according to pay group 13 TV‑L Wissenschaft. The position is suitable for part-time employment.

The focus is on developing Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) for solving partial differential equations (PDEs), especially for complex, coupled systems. Responsibilities include:

• Research and teaching support
• Developing algorithms in physics-informed machine learning
• Collaborating with colleagues and departments
• Conducting simulations and evaluating algorithms
• Publishing research findings
• Participating in organizational tasks

Tasks will support the preparation of a doctorate, habilitation, or equivalent qualification.

Job Requirements

• University degree (master's or equivalent) in computer science, physics, mathematics, or related field
• Strong programming skills
• Good knowledge of machine learning and deep learning basics
• Knowledge of Python or willingness to learn
• Understanding of PDEs
• Independent, goal-oriented work style
