GENERAL INFORMATION
At the Chair of Leadership & Society at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, we explore how leadership and organizational practices can foster greater awareness, dynamism, and pluralism in society.
Our research spans across leadership development, diversity management, mindfulness at work, and team dynamics. We approach these topics with methodological rigor and theoretical breadth, combining quantitative and qualitative methods to examine real-world organizational phenomena.
Our work is grounded in top-tier academic standards and closely linked with practical relevance. We collaborate with international scholars and practitioners and are committed to creating research that not onlyadvances academic theory but also supports meaningful change in organizations and society.
YOUR MISSION
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Conducting independent research and developing your doctoral dissertation within the Chair’s research themes (e.g., leadership development, diversity and inclusion, mindfulness, team dynamics,entrepreneurship, or other relevant Organizational Behavior topics).
• Collaborating on empirical research projects using a variety of methods (e.g., experiments, surveys,field studies, interviews).
• Contributing to publications in top-tier academic journals and presenting at international conferences.
• Supporting the teaching activities of the Chair, including course preparation and implementation inBSc, MSc, MBA, and Executive Education programs.
• Supervising student theses across degree programs.
• writing and analytical skills and are fluent in English (evidenced by your thesis or other academicwork).
• You have a keen interest in research on leadership, diversity, team performance, entrepreneurship,mindfulness, and/or other relevant organizational behavior topics.
• You have experience with empirical research methods—quantitative (e.g., R, SPSS, STATA) and/orqualitative (e.g., NVivo, MAXQDA)—which you have applied in prior coursework or thesis projects,and you are eager to expand your skills with new analytical tools.
• Ideally, you have initial experience in writing or assisting with academic publications.
• Ideally, you have GMAT or GRE scores placing you in the top 15% of test takers (i.e., at or above the85th percentile). While submitting test scores is not mandatory, applicants without them shouldprovide alternative evidence of excellence. Test results must be no older than five years.
• You are self-motivated, structured, curious, and capable of working independently while enjoyingcollaboration.
YOUR PROFILE
• You hold a M.Sc. (or equivalent) in management, psychology, sociology, economics, or a relatedfield—or expect to complete it shortly.
• You have excellent results in your first degree or graduate study
• You have strong academic writing and analytical skills and are fluent in English (evidenced by yourthesis or other academic work).
• You have a keen interest in research on leadership, diversity, team performance, entrepreneurship,mindfulness, and/or other relevant organizational behavior topics.
