Job Description:

Role Summary:

The Field Service Engineering Specialist (for Electric Actuation & Digital Products) is a customer-facing extension of the Flowserve digital products and automation engineering team. This engineer will support electric actuation activities for all digital products interacting with third-party host control systems. Responsibilities include servicing, troubleshooting, and commissioning customer network installations. The role requires a strong understanding of network protocols such as HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and connectivity with systems like ABB, Emerson, Honeywell, Invensys, Rockwell, Siemens, Yokogawa, via wired and wireless technologies.

Location and Travel:

This position can be based anywhere in the US or Europe. The role involves up to 50% travel, including international travel. Candidates should reside near a major airport.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Executing global strategies like Red Raven and VALVESIGHT to increase profitability within FCD’s Service and Solutions Group, supporting product management and development.
  • Utilizing diagnostics for troubleshooting, analysis, and inspection of digital products and control system compatibility issues, including electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Training end users and support personnel in network troubleshooting and commissioning, mentoring junior engineers, and building expertise in network protocols.
  • Assisting customers in designing new applications, migrating technologies, and upgrading solutions across various industries.
  • Providing technical assistance on digital network interoperability, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance.
  • Supporting sales and application engineering through pre-sales technical support, product demonstrations, and customer interactions.
  • Communicating customer feedback to product management and benchmarking against competitors.
  • Promoting a safety culture and maintaining a safe work environment.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Chemical Engineering or 5+ years in industrial networks.
  • 5-10 years of experience in troubleshooting systems and networks including integration of actuation, valves, and instruments.
  • Proven experience with industrial digital communication and device commissioning.
  • Fluent in English (verbal, reading, writing).
  • Understanding of fluid flow in process control environments.
  • Ability to explain digital and mechanical concepts and articulate value propositions.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, process control elements, and digital communication protocols (HART, FF, Modbus, Profibus).
  • Experience with DCS and Asset Management Systems (Emerson DeltaV/AMS, Yokogawa Centum VP/PRM, Honeywell Experion/FDM).
  • Familiarity with FDT frameworks, PACTware, FieldMate, and FieldCare.
  • Skills in installing, commissioning digital products, and reading schematics.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Wireless communication in industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of competitors like Rotork, Auma, EIM, Coester.
