WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Join our talented team at the forefront of groundbreaking developments in battery recycling. Your job is to ensure smooth operations and compliance with regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, authority structures/processes, and project management, along with a passion for sustainability, environmental protection, and continuous learning.

Please note that tozero does not offer remote work; we believe in building a strong on-site culture, especially with engineers working in the plant and lab.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

You will act as the interface between business, engineering, authorities, and external service providers (e.g., architects, environmental engineers):

  • Ensure full legal compliance with applicable laws such as:
  • BImSchG - drive approval procedures according to the Federal Immission Control Act and implement obligations
  • KrWG - ensure proper waste disposal and obtain waste management licenses
  • WHG - organize wastewater disposal and handle hazardous substances
  • AwSV - classify substances and facilities, fulfill requirements
  • REACH - monitor compliance, manage registrations, assess chemical risks
  • BayBO - plan and secure building permits

Manage multiple projects involving various stakeholders, oversee plant expansion projects, develop policies and procedures, prepare reports, and plan audits. Be open to further qualifications beneficial to you and the company.

Your profile
  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field; or comparable work experience
  • 1-3 years in regulatory affairs, compliance, or quality assurance, preferably in recycling, chemical, or environmental industries; experience with authorities and audits preferred
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, authority processes, and project management; ability to switch between high-level and technical discussions
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; team motivation abilities
  • Entrepreneurial spirit to handle startup dynamics
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental impact
  • Native German and fluent English required
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, Abfallbeauftragte/r) are a plus
