Who May Apply?
US Citizens currently residing within the commuting area of Baumholder, Germany (not ordinarily resident in Germany). US resident alien family members of US sponsors who are citizens of NATO countries other than Germany.
This position is located at the USAG Rheinland-Pfalz, Baumholder Aquatics Center, Baumholder, Germany.
Duties
- Note: This is a training position for a certified Lifeguard. Works under close supervision wherein the work is closely reviewed/monitored and detailed guidance provided.
- Must participate in all required training (emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations). Mandatory certifications must be completed within 30 calendar days of employment.
- Upon completion of mandatory certifications, the incumbent will be noncompetitively reassigned to Recreation Aid (Lifeguard), PD #3206, responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at an assigned aquatic facility.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A probation period of one year may be required.
- Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, including a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Be able to obtain within 30 days and maintain the following certifications: Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED from a nationally recognized agency.
- Facilities that use Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" must obtain the O2 Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration" or equivalent training) within two weeks of reporting for duty.
- All required certifications must be obtained within the specified time and kept current. Failure to complete the required certification will result in removal from employment.
- A pre-employment medical examination is required; Lifeguards must have good vision (corrected if necessary) to effectively recognize emergencies, incidents, and rule-breaking.
- Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, the incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within 24 hours.
- The incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to swim and participate in the lifeguard certifications.
- Must be willing to obtain within 30 days and maintain the following certifications: Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED from a nationally recognized agency.
- All required certifications must be obtained within the specified time and kept current.
- Work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holidays, and night duty.
