Job Description:

In the context of the collaborative project ROARA, funded by the VW Stiftung, the Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University is looking for a researcher at the Postdoc level. The research project "Repercussions of Open Access on Research Assessment" analyzes the relations between recent calls for Open Access in science policy, the emergence of questionable publication practices, and possible repercussions on research evaluation. Your Tasks:

  1. Preparation and conduction of an interview study (40%)
  2. Compilation and analysis of a document corpus of open access policies (30%)
  3. Publication and lecture activity (20%)
  4. Consolidation of results (10%)

Your Profile:

  • Completed scientific university degree in sociology or a social science field (diploma or master's degree)
  • PhD (or equivalent degree) in sociology or a related social science subject
  • Very good knowledge and experience in qualitative methods
  • Experience in conducting and evaluating qualitative interviews
  • Interest in the scientific publishing system
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Good communication and organizational skills, with a cooperative and team-oriented way of working

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Experience with mixed-methods research designs
  • Experience in document analysis
  • Strong research orientation
