Join Shell's R&D Operations Group (PTX/T) at Hamburg as an R&D Engineer – Vehicle Testing (m/f/d). Contribute to developing future mobility solutions for Shell's Advanced Fuel, Lubricant, E-Mobility, and Energy business. The Hamburg group collaborates across six laboratories to innovate in energy, lubricants, and mobility solutions, with this role supporting the experimental Chassis Dynamometer Laboratory.

What’s the role?

The R&D Engineer - Vehicle Testing (m/f/d) leads projects and guides a team of engineers, experimentalists, and technicians researching future fuels, lubricants, and mobility solutions. Responsibilities include defining test schedules, project scopes, preparing reports and presentations, and ensuring safety, accuracy, timeliness, and budget adherence. The role also involves improving test methods, mentoring colleagues, and enhancing technical expertise.

What we need from you

• Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, and proficiency in English and German (minimum B2 level).
• A Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven vehicle testing and project management experience.
• Expertise in experimental methods in vehicle technology and combustion engines, including engine and transmission technology, exhaust aftertreatment, emission legislation, safety equipment, test procedures, measurement, calibration, and automation. Knowledge of alternative fuels, batteries, EV technology, ECU, and BMS is a plus.
• Understanding of operational safety, HSSE, Quality Management, ISO9001, ISO17025 is required.
• Experience working in collaborative R&D environments, stakeholder management, a learner mindset, curiosity, and a collaborative work approach.
• Knowledge of Agile, Systems Thinking, and Model-Based Systems Engineering is advantageous.
