Quality Engineer – Steel Erection (Power Plant Project)

Stuttgart, Germany | 10-month contract | Start: 1st week of September

Project overview:

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join the site-based project team for a new-build combined cycle power plant near Stuttgart. The role focuses on quality control and assurance during the steel erection phase of the project, ensuring compliance with design specifications, relevant standards, and client quality requirements.

Key responsibilities:

• Supervise and monitor steel erection activities on site to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes (EN, DIN, ISO standards).
• Develop, implement, and update Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for steel structures.
• Coordinate and witness welding inspections, dimensional checks, NDT (VT, UT, MT), and bolt tightening procedures.
• Review and validate welding documentation (WPS, WPQR, welder qualifications).
• Perform incoming inspections of structural steel materials and check traceability and certificates.
• Identify, report, and track non-conformances (NCRs); support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
• Liaise with the site construction team, subcontractors, and the client’s quality representatives to resolve quality issues.
• Prepare and maintain detailed site quality records, inspection reports, and contribute to the final handover documentation.
• Participate in daily coordination meetings and support HSE initiatives on site.

Profile:

• Qualified Quality Engineer / Welding Engineer / Mechanical Engineer, or similar.
• Solid experience in quality management on industrial construction projects, ideally power plants or large infrastructure.
• Strong background in steel structures, welding inspections, and erection processes.
• Familiarity with German and international standards (DIN EN 1090, ISO 9001, etc.).
• Good communication skills in English; German skills are an advantage.
• Valid certifications (e.g., IWS, IWT, NDT Level 2) preferred.

Start: 1st week of September 2025

Duration: 10 months (until end of June 2026)

Location: Site-based in Stuttgart area, Germany
