Your role: The Quality Cost Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing costs associated with field measures, such as recalls and field actions worldwide. The role requires a collaborative approach, leading cross-functional teams to gather incurred costs and ensure accurate recording and reporting. The engineer will liaise with Finance and Purchasing to recover costs related to supplier or ESP issues. Success will be measured by the timely collection of costs. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  1. Leading the Business:
  2. Process Owner for Cost Engineering on Field Topics
  3. Gather and consolidate costs related to field measures from various departments across locations worldwide.
  4. Collaborate with Engineering, Supplier Quality, Plant Quality, After-Sales, Regional After Sales Teams, Quality, Purchasing, and other Teams for accurate cost information.
  5. Identify opportunities for cost recovery related to supplier and ESP issues.
  6. Lead and guide teams for collecting and documenting evidence on costs.
  7. Provide financial analysis and insights to drive cost efficiency.
  8. Initiate charge back from suppliers and ESPs aligned with Purchasing and Finance.
  9. Reporting & Monitoring:
  10. Define a strategy, implement, and improve processes and IT systems for easy cost collection, including evidence, across all locations.
  11. Collect and analyze cost data and generate detailed reports for cost collection.
  12. Track expenditures related to field actions and recalls against budget.
  13. Develop and implement cost control processes and best practices.
  14. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.
  15. Participate in meetings and committees focused on field actions and recalls.
  16. Engage in cross-functional communication and collaboration.
  17. Facilitate the implementation of cost control measures and financial strategies.
  18. Business Contribution:
  19. Ensure proper processes and documentation to support smooth negotiations with suppliers on cost recovery.
  20. Achieve high supplier charge back acceptance rates in collaboration with purchasing.
  21. Escalate on time to enable fast decision-making to reduce the 'incident/claim to cost-recovery-cycle' (lead time).

What we are looking for:

  • Technical degree in economics, accounting, finance, or similar studies.
  • Experience in Quality Management and in the Automotive Industry, preferably in field Quality.
  • 5-7 years of experience in cost management and cost recovery processes, including negotiations with third parties.
  • Strong understanding of field actions, recalls, and associated cost management.
  • Proficient in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • High team skills and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • High empathy, motivation, communication skills, and enthusiasm; ability to adapt to diverse people and situations.
  • Very good English skills.
