We’re looking for a Python GIS Developer to help build the geospatial intelligence layer of a cutting-edge platform that simplifies zoning and building analysis across the U.S.
The product interprets complex zoning codes and GIS data to provide real-time feasibility insights for developers, architects, and homeowners.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement core backend services in Python.
• Integrate and process GIS datasets using PostGIS and related tools.
• Work with geospatial libraries like Shapely to implement business logic.
• Ensure code quality, performance, and scalability across services.
• Deploy and monitor services in a cloud-native environment (AWS).
• Ingest and clean GIS datasets from state and municipal sources.
• Analyze and validate spatial data quality and completeness.
• Structure and manage geospatial databases using PostGIS.
• Build and optimize geospatial queries and operations using Shapely or similar libraries.
• Collaborate with developers to integrate spatial logic into backend systems.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in Python, building production-ready systems.Experience withShapely, Fiona, or GeoPandas is valued.
• 5+ years of experience as Developer
• Experience working with Docker and deploying to AWS (especially ECS, RDS).
• Solid knowledge of GIS principles, spatial databases, and geoprocessing techniques.
• Hands-on experience with PostGIS and geospatial formats (GeoJSON, shapefiles, etc.).Familiarity with PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with cloud environments (preferably AWS).
• Strong communication skills and advanced English (written and spoken).
• Willingness to be available for extended hours when required by project demands.
• Degree in GIS, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a related field is valued.
