We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our clients growing team. This is a critical role responsible for overseeing all aspects of our procurement operations, ensuring cost efficiencies, and maintaining robust supply levels. While candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply, a strong preference will be given to individuals with experience in a regulated environment, such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or even large retail chains with a focus on regulated products or clinical supply chains.
You'll be instrumental in negotiating competitive supplier pricing, establishing long-term agreements, and expertly managing our clients inventory. Proficiency in ERP system transactions is essential, as you'll be working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and actively contributing to our transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with company goals, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and timely delivery within a regulated environment.
- Lead complex negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable terms, pricing, and long-term agreements for raw materials, components, and services.
- Monitor and manage supply levels to prevent stockouts and minimize excess inventory, ensuring a continuous and efficient supply chain.
- Evaluate supplier performance, conduct regular business reviews, and foster strong, collaborative relationships with key vendors.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers, assessing their capabilities, quality standards, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Manage the procure-to-pay process, including purchase order generation, invoice reconciliation, and vendor payments, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Utilize and optimize ERP systems (currently Microsoft Dynamics NAV, transitioning to Dynamics 365 Finance) for all purchasing transactions, data analysis, and reporting.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Finance teams to understand material needs and support new product development.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with internal policies, industry regulations (e.g., GMP, GDP), and relevant legal requirements.
- Implement and maintain purchasing policies and procedures to ensure transparency, fairness, and efficiency.
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including but not limited to material shortages, price volatility, and geopolitical events.
- Generate regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance for senior management.
- Stay informed of market trends, new technologies, and best practices in procurement and supply chain management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, with a strong preference for a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management. Candidates without a degree will be considered with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in a regulated industry (pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, or a large retail chain with significant regulated product exposure/clinical experience) is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in ERP systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and/or Dynamics 365 Finance is a significant advantage.
- Six Sigma certification is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
