Props Magic Technician – ALIZÉ – Resident Shows Division

Full-Time Position

We are looking for a Props Magic Technician to join our Props Magic team! This position’s main responsibility will be to construct, maintain and run show cue tracks in a safe and consistent manner, with the guidance of the Head of Department (“HOD”), Props Magic. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, have excellent communication and be the ultimate team player to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the show.

The Props Magic Technician will have the opportunity to:

  1. Assist the Props Magic management team in establishing and maintaining the safe and consistent operations of all production properties and puppet elements for all performances;
  2. Preserve the artistic integrity of the props, puppet designs, illusion-related equipment, in cooperation with the Props Magic HOD;
  3. Troubleshoot and oversee operation of all production props, puppets and illusion-related equipment and elements during performances;
  4. Develop inspection and maintenance schedules, as well as procedures;
  5. Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies for performance needs;
  6. Follow and maintain training and backup plans to ensure continuity in performance operations of the Props Magic Department;
  7. Plan staff requirements and schedules for all maintenance and training calls;
  8. Maintain and update the props, puppets, illusion-related specifications and drawings of all production props, puppets, illusion-related elements, as well as all pertinent inspection and maintenance records;
  9. Adhere to and actively promote all applicable German occupational safety and health regulations, including DGUV standards, the Arbeitsschutzgesetz (ArbSchG), and industry-specific guidelines, to ensure the safe operation of all technical and performance-related elements of the production; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
  10. Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
  11. Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
  12. Complete all other job-related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  1. At least one year of experience in professional Props;
  2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD;
  3. In-depth experience in theatrical props for large scale productions;
  4. Proven skill in props fabrication, wood and metal construction;
  5. Sculpture and scenic painting skills an asset;
  6. Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;
  7. High school diploma or GED completion; Completed Ausbildung as Veranstaltungstechniker/in (Event Technician) or equivalent qualification in stage technology.
  8. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs, working with limited to no visibility; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer.   9. Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Ability to clearly and effectively communicate via headset; with an international cast the operational language will be English;
