Rolls-Royce Solutions develops microgrid solutions including energy storage systems that bring reliable and efficient power to remote communities, industry facilities, and commercial buildings. With our technology, we support the grid globally and assist on- and off-grid facilities in transitioning to renewable energy.

Tasks - What to expect from us:

We develop customer-specific projects and a powerful microgrid controller for large-scale energy projects worldwide. We execute dozens of such projects annually, and we need your help to deliver these solutions to our customers.

In this position, you will be responsible for setting up and delivering the automation core of our microgrid projects, including battery energy storage and renewable energy sources. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Collaborating with project engineers, suppliers, and customers to understand project requirements.
2. Developing new software modules based on these requirements.
3. Acquiring and evaluating communication interfaces from equipment manufacturers (e.g., genset controllers, energy meters, PV inverters, wind turbines).
4. Implementing communication with these devices.
5. Integrating our software into existing customer SCADA systems.
6. Participating in project commissioning.
7. Providing second-level support to the service team as an expert in our software's use and configuration, which may require travel.

Qualifications - Who we are looking for:

You are an experienced automation engineer with extensive practical experience with PLC systems and industrial communication. You are committed to ensuring solutions are properly implemented in the field. The ideal candidate should have:

• A completed degree in automation, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, M-Bus, IEC 61850, IEC 101, OPC/UA.
• Multiple years of experience working with PLCs in industrial settings, preferably with B&R automation.
• Field experience with electrical generation systems (PV, wind, battery, gas, prime power, emergency diesel) is a significant plus.
• Practical experience with TCP/IP networking, including router configuration and topologies, is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and independent working skills.
• Proficiency in both German and English.
• Willingness to travel.
