Project Operations Manager, Munich, Germany

Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for all works on site, leading pre‑planning meetings with Mercury and supply chain partner teams to review and understand deliverables and ensure compliance.
- Work closely with the Project Director, Manager and Commercial Manager as part of the project triumvirate, ensuring all KPIs are delivered and attending weekly site walks with the leadership team to discuss and record key project issues and achievements.
- Maintain a positive client relationship and promptly action and deliver on our requirements.
- Plan site set‑up and logistics through project delivery stages to ensure adequate facilities, access and conditions are in place prior to tasks, provide safe and controlled execution, keep resources in line with agreed budgets and develop site branding plans with brand management to promote Mercury’s image within the community.
- Promote a strong EHS and quality culture on site through attendance at whiteboard, DABS, Last Planner, Collaborative Planning and SLT meetings.
- Ensure adequately trained and appointed staff are available on site to manage and oversee HRA activities such as lifting operations, COHE and temporary works.
- Deliver the “Bringing Quality 2 Life” and “Right First Time” initiatives by supporting package leads with supply chain partner understanding and involvement.
- Lead the development of the project target schedule and sequence storyboards with the site planner, ensuring alignment with Mercury and partner teams.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date awareness of the project commercial status through collaboration with the commercial team and communicate scope changes to enable recovery through the change management process.
- Maintain positive working relationships with supply chain partners, listening to concerns and resolving any issues promptly.
- Attend and actively contribute to weekly client meetings, operations interface meetings, internal meetings, schedule meetings, monthly SLT meetings, whiteboard, DABS, collaborative and Last Planner meetings.
- All other duties associated with this role and/or reasonably required by the Company.
Essential Criteria
- Engineering degree or recognised trade qualification.
- 10+ years of experience managing large construction projects as a General Contractor.
- Thorough knowledge of civil, structural and architectural packages.
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical installations and interfaces.
- Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
- Ability to efficiently manage a team by setting expectations, delegation and review.
- Strong communication and computer skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
