Qualifikationen

  • 2+ years of experience managing national or international grant-funded projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of materiality analysis, sustainability and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of CSRD, ESRS, EUDR, TNFD or SBTN.
  • Experience analyzing supply chains and biodiversity-related risks.
  • Proven ability to conduct scientific analyses and present complex issues to businesses.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and stakeholder processes.
  • Excellent written/spoken German; business-fluent English; other languages desirable.

A Biodiversity Project Manager – Risk Management & Materiality Analyses (m/f/d)

To strengthen our team in Bonn, we are looking for a dedicated individual to implement innovative projects in the areas of sustainable supply chains, biodiversity, and corporate risk management.
The position is an 80% part-time position (32 hours per week). The position is initially a fixed-term position through December 2028. The goal is to continue this collaboration. The ideal work location is the GNF office in Bonn, though remote work is possible.

Your Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the technical and organizational management of projects focusing on biodiversity, sustainable supply chains, and nature-based risk and sustainability management. In doing so, you will work closely with companies, academic partners, and other stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include, in particular:

  • Conducting and further developing materiality analyses with a focus on biodiversity, natural risks, and deforestation risks;
  • Analysis of nature-related risks along international supply chains, particularly in the aluminum/bauxite sector;
  • Use of established methods and tools, such as SBTN, ENCORE, the WWF Biodiversity Risk Filter, and other approaches for assessing nature and biodiversity risks;
  • Developing practical recommendations for companies and financial institutions to reduce biodiversity and deforestation risks;
  • Planning, conducting, and facilitating workshops and stakeholder dialogues;
  • Preparation of technical reports, guidelines, and project publications;
  • Presentation of project results at professional events, as well as communication with companies, government agencies, and project partners;
  • Support for public relations and the dissemination of project results;
  • Coordination with funding agencies, presentation of results, and preparation of technical reports.

Your profile:
You have a college degree, for example in biology, environmental sciences, business administration, economics, sustainability management, geography, forestry, agricultural sciences, or a comparable field.

In addition, you should ideally have the following qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience managing national or international grant-funded projects;
  • In-depth knowledge of materiality analysis, sustainability, and risk management;
  • Strong knowledge of current regulatory developments (e.g., CSRD, ESRS, EUDR, TNFD, or SBTN);
  • Experience in analyzing supply chains as well as risks related to nature and biodiversity;
  • Proficiency in conducting scientific analyses and presenting complex issues to businesses;
  • Experience facilitating workshops and stakeholder processes;
  • In addition to excellent written and spoken German, you must be business-fluent in English; knowledge of other languages is desirable
  • An independent, structured, and team-oriented approach to work rounds out your profile.
