Responsible for managing and coordinating logistics and logistics-adjacent projects at the European level, ensuring structured planning, cross-country coordination, stakeholder alignment, transparent reporting, and disciplined implementation of logistics initiatives.
Managing Logistics & Warehousing Projects
- Planning, launching, and managing logistics projects with a regional or group scope
- Defining the project scope, objectives, stages, milestones, and implementation plan
- Developing and maintaining project schedules and coordinating activities across countries, functions, and external partners
- Preparing business cases and investment assessments
- Facilitating workshops and coordinating project committees
Cross-Country Communication and Stakeholder Management
- Management of external service providers and internal project teams
- Coordinating collaboration between local logistics teams, IT, controlling, suppliers, and operational partners
- Collecting updates and ensuring consistent project communication across the region
- Presenting project status, results, and decision criteria at management level
Managing Risk, Quality, and Execution Discipline
- Identifying project risks, delays, and inter-stream dependencies, and proposing corrective actions
- Overseeing project execution quality, data completeness, decision documentation, and progress transparency
- Supporting execution discipline by monitoring deadlines, tasks, escalations, and decision points
Standardizing Logistics Processes and Implementations
- Supporting projects related to the standardization and harmonization of logistics processes across countries and warehouses
- Identifying and realizing opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reductions
- Participating in implementation projects involving WMS, ERP, BI, and other logistics support tools
- Supporting relocation projects, infrastructure changes, warehouse process changes, and operational implementations
Reporting, Data, and Decision Support
- Defining and monitoring relevant KPIs, such as productivity, quality, and lead times
- Preparing status reports, project summaries, management materials, and decision support documentation
- Collaborating on projects to improve data quality, automate reporting, and develop logistics BI
- Supporting projects related to logistics cost transparency, cost allocation, and variance analysis
- Consolidating information from countries and regions and preparing a single, comparable view for management
Collaboration with External Partners and Support Functions
- Coordinating activities with logistics operators, carriers, system providers, and other external partners within projects
- Aligning operational, technical, and process requirements with local markets and central functions
- Supporting communication with clients or partners in projects that impact the operating model or service
Additional Experience and Requirements
- Experience with automation technologies (AMR, conveyor systems, AS/RS) and supporting tenders and contract negotiations
- Experience with warehouse strategy and layout concepts
- Experience in e-commerce or omnichannel logistics and end-to-end logistics processes
- Conducting freight tenders and freight contract negotiations
- Cooperation and contract negotiations with 3PLs
- Willingness to travel, depending on project needs (e.g. 20-40%)
Profile
- A degree in logistics, supply chain management, industrial engineering or a related field
- Several years’ experience in project management within logistics or warehousing, with a proven track record of successfully implementing complex projects (e.g. site set-up, automation, system implementation)
- Good knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and logistics process design
- Experience with Lean Management, Six Sigma or comparable methods would be an advantage
- Strong analytical skills and ability to structure complex topics into clear actions
- Strong communication skills and ability to drive execution in a matrix organization
