Job summary

Airbus Defence and Space GmbH is seeking a Project Manager for Electronic Warfare Ground Systems. You will develop, integrate, and deliver EW software across multiple platforms, guiding the full mission cycle from planning to post‑analysis.

You will drive human–machine interface solutions and ensure delivery to the highest quality and security standards in line with Airbus processes. The role supports reduced weekly hours and adapted task scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or information technology.
• 5+ years in system engineering or product ownership in aerospace/defense/IT services.
• PM lifecycle knowledge; IPMA Level D or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of software product system engineering.
• Proven track record managing multi-stakeholder projects.
• Experience with PM tools and governance (kickoff meetings, milestone trend analysis, resource planning, quality gate reviews).
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• German and/or Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify technical risks and define mitigations.
• Coordinate inputs across engineering teams and act as liaison.
• Manage project execution according to committed contracts.
• Lead engineers in a matrix with SCRUM; define sprint content and system architecture.
• Monitor technical work and validate readiness for milestones.

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Project Manager Electronic Warfare Ground Systems (d/f/m). Develop, integrate and deliver high end Electronic Warfare software for multiple platforms such as Eurofighter, Tornado, A400M and others. Accompany the entire mission cycle from mission planning, through execution and post analysis. Drive human machine interface solutions and deliver our products and highest quality and security standards in accordance with the development processes of Airbus. This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Risk Assessment & Mitigation: identify technical risks that impact project cost or schedule and define appropriate mitigation actions
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between the engineering quality and engineering team as well as different engineering teams and coordinate their inputs
• Responsible for the project(s) execution according to the committed contract(s)
• Leading assigned engineers in a matrix organization by applying the SCRUM process: define content of sprints and agree with the team on the optimum system architecture
• Monitor the technical work of the team and evaluate the product by testing, whether it fits the requirements and is ready for the next milestone
• Support RFQ answering and commercial proposal preparation

Desired skills and qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or information technology or comparable science
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in system engineering or product ownership, ideally within the Aerospace, Defense, or IT services industries
• Strong familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) PM Certification desired, minimum: IPMA Level D or equivalent – knowledge of all disciplines that are relevant for a PM, preferably experience in applying PM techniques
• Deep understanding of system engineering of software products
• Proven track record of managing projects with multiple stakeholders
• Experience in applying standard project management tools (e.g.: Kick‑Off meetings, milestone trend analysis, resource planning, chairing quality gate reviews)
• Analytical & Solution‑Oriented: Ability to analyze complex technical architectures and provide pragmatic solutions
• Communication: Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders across Engineering and PMO/customer Team Management: knowledge about team dynamics and management. Experience is desirable
• Other spoken languages (Spanish, German) would be a plus
