What We Can Achieve Together:

As part of the regional priority on rights-based and people-centered conservation to achieve equitable conservation outcomes TNC Asia Pacific region is anticipating the launch of a project aimed at empowering women to lead improved NRM and build resilience to the impacts of climate change in the Coral Triangle (Ultimate Outcome). Of the six CT countries, project activities will be implemented on-the-ground in four countries (Indonesia, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Solomon Islands, and the Philippines) with training and participation in learning exchanges in all six CT countries including Malaysia and Timor Leste. The Project Manager supports the Project Director in the day-to-day management of the project, organize and coordinate diverse activities, including programmatic support, project communications and documentations. Under the supervision of the Project Director, they implement project activities and management solutions to meet the project objectives and outcomes.

The Project Manager leads the overall project coordination, establishes processes for project workplan development, tracks project deliverables and budget, and coordinates reporting across multiple project teams, partners and contractors. They will utilize project management methodologies and processes to meet project deliverables while fulfilling organizational and donor standards. The Project Manager supports the Project Director in liaising with partners and contractors, managing contracts, capturing/sharing project stories and lessons learnt, developing and disseminating communications materials, and organize project meetings and/or special events involving multiple teams and project partners. Under the supervision of the Project Director and in collaboration with project teams, the Project Manager will perform project risk management, analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions in order to improve effectiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

• Act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems.
• Ensure project commitments, Conservancy and donor policies and procedures, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.
• Lead project workplan development and reporting of AP Region priority projects.
• Lead project communication strategy and materials development and dissemination.
• Establish regular project review and reporting flow, ensuring effective and timely implementation of project cycle by project teams and partners.
• Financial responsibility may include purchasing, processing invoices and transfers, and negotiating and contracting with vendors, and participating in budget preparation.
• Manage projects with several variables - set realistic deadlines, manage a timeline, and ensure accountability.
• Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
• Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
• Work within scope of program’s strategic goals.
• May involve domestic and international travel of 20% or more.

The position is flexible in terms of location within the TNC Asia Pacific region, in countries where TNC may hire staff, with preference given to Indonesia, Solomon Islands and PNG or in countries where the project activities will be implemented. There is no sponsorship for relocation and support for immigration and visa.

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination, including 2 years of managing complex or large-scale projects.
• Experience in managing and implementing multiple projects.
• Experience in developing and managing operational and financial aspects of small to large projects.
• Experience managing project teams and working with cross-functional staff in a geographically remote context.
• Experience using project management techniques and tools.
• Experience writing and editing promotional, informational, and/or training materials.
• Experience presenting to and/or communicating with diverse audiences such as internal and external teams, senior leadership, governments, community or business leaders, and or partners.
• Written and verbal fluency in English.

• Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams across multiple organizational levels.
• Ability to write and speak in another language other than English spoken in the countries of AP Region, highly desirable.
• Strong communications and presentation development skills.
• Possesses strong interpersonal skills, including ability to negotiate, influence and persuade. Must be a team player.
• Experience working with government awards.
• Ability to manage and implement complex processes.
• Strong organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet time sensitive deadlines.
