Zusammenfassung

RIMOWA, the German luxury luggage maker under LVMH, seeks a Project Engineer (m/f/d) for Homologation based at our Cologne headquarters. You will develop and implement product homologation plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards across materials and components.

In this role you collaborate with quality, development and purchasing teams to achieve high-quality outcomes, lead DFMEA, maintain documentation and drive continuous improvement in testing workflows.

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 4–5 years in product homologation or quality planning.
  • Experience in quality assurance in manufacturing or consumer goods, preferably luggage or luxury.
  • Knowledge of FMEA and APQP processes.
  • Fluent English and German communication.

Aufgaben

  • Oversee homologation of materials, components and products.
  • Lead and review product risk analysis/ DFMEA.
  • Define internal guidelines and align test specs.
  • Identify missing tests and coordinate with Homologation Lab.
  • Ensure smooth transfer to production and quality.

Project Engineer (m/f/d) - Homologation

oversees the homologation of new material, components and products for our development and engineering change projects, ensuring that all products and services meet the required internal and external standards and specifications. As HPE, you develop and implement product homologation plans and collaborate with cross-functional project teams to achieve consistent and high-quality outcomes. You ensure that the products are compliant with the regulatory, Rimowa and LVMH standards. This role reports to the Head of homologation & Compliance and mainly collaborates with our quality, development and purchasing teams.

This is a permanent full time position, based in our Headquarter in Cologne, Germany.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the homologation of materials, components and products throughout the development process
  • Lead and review product risk analysis/ DFMEA on a regular base
  • Define and update internal guidelines as well as product and quality standards and ensure their reflection into test specifications together with our Homologation Lab
  • Identify missing Material/ Component and Product tests/ Devices and implement these in collaboration with our Homologation Lab
  • Ensure smooth transfer to production and transfer responsibility to quality
  • Continuous improvement of the testing and reporting workflows
Ensure Product Compliance
  • Ensure products meet all regulatory requirements (e. REACH; Prop 65; GB Standards) and LVMH standards in cooperation with internal and external consultants.
  • Key contact person between internal stakeholders, suppliers and external Labs coordinating the compliance related test and possible conflict resolutions
  • Communication and documentation of the results
Collabaration and Communication
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and others
  • Regularly align with our Client Care Center regarding client feedback and update internal quality guidelines accordingly
  • Facilitate quality meetings and reviews during development phase
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive quality records and documentation
  • Prepare and present quality reports and performance metrics to team
  • Track project milestones to ensure quality deliverables are met on time
  • Report on quality status at key project milestones and ensure any issues are resolved
Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Industrial Technology, or a related field. Master's degree would be beneficial
  • At least 4-5 years of practical work experience in product homologation and/or advanced quality planning environment
  • Proven experience in quality assurance and/or product compliance roles within the manufacturing or consumer goods industry, with focus on Plastic and Metal parts
  • Specific experience in the luggage or luxury industry will be a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of quality management systems and product development processes
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify potential quality issues and recommend effective solutions during the early stages of product development
  • Familiarity with quality control tools and methodologies such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and external partners during the project phase
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities with a strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in documentation and report writing to maintain comprehensive quality records and facilitate effective decision-making during the project phase
  • Fluent English and German language skills
