Jobbeschreibung

The Jena University Hospital (JUH) invites applications for a

Professorship for Trauma, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery (W3)

to be filled at the earliest possible date. The future holder of the position (m/f/d) will be handed over the Chairmanship of the Department for Trauma, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery and Orthopaedics at the JUH.

The person to be appointed (m/f/d) should represent the subject within research, teaching and healthcare. The focus should be on traumatology.

It is expected to strengthen the main research areas of the Faculty of Medicine (sepsis and infection medicine, ageing and age-associated diseases, medical optics and photonics).

The professorship is also responsible for the further development of the interdisciplinary certified SarcomaCenter Jena and the expansion of the Trauma Center (G-BA) Thuringia. It is expected that occupational health insurance procedures (“berufsgenossenschaftliche Heilverfahren”) will be controlled. The person to be appointed (m/f/d) should meet the requirements for accident insurance consultant (“D-Arzt”) and for the management of a center for Severe Injury Classification Procedure („Schwerstverletztenartenverfahren“ (SAV)).

Outstanding research achievements, successful acquisition of third-party funded projects, commitment to medical education and excellent teaching skills as well as a designated surgical catalog with proven expertise in all surgical procedures for the treatment of injuries must be demonstrated. Our future colleague will cooperate in an interdisciplinary manner and contribute her or his knowledge to the dialogue with society.

We are looking for a department head with high social competence, the ability to work in a team, excellent skills in the management of a department and experience in the successful economic and personnel management of a large area of responsibility.

The requirements for appointment are a university degree in medicine, recognition as a specialist in the field of orthopaedics and trauma surgery (Facharztanerkennung) with completed additional training in specialized trauma surgery (Zusatzweiterbildung), aptitude for teaching at a university level, particular aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate, as well as the “Habilitation” or equivalent scientific achievements. Experience in the field of trauma surgery and orthopaedics, including polytrauma care, pelvic surgery and reconstructive procedures for musculoskeletal injuries is expected.

In accordance with the decision of the responsible governmental institution (Kultusministerkonferenz) of 19.11.1999, the responsibility regarding clinical care will be regulated by a separate contract establishing a performance-based payment with constant and variably components.
