Our university has a longstanding cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films (IST), which specializes in surface and thin film technologies crucial for various industries, including sustainable energy, manufacturing, and medical applications.

Position Details

We are offering a joint appointment for a Professorship for "Thin Film Technology and Micro-/Nanostructure Fabrication" at the Institute for Surface Technology (IOT) at TUBraunschweig and FraunhoferIST, with a salary grade of W 3. The position is planned to commence on April 1st, 2026.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  1. Lead a division at FraunhoferIST, shaping scientific and economic success.
  2. Define research strategies and secure projects.
  3. Transfer research results into industry.
  4. Oversee personnel and organizational development.
  5. Engage with stakeholders from funding bodies, industry, and academia.

Additionally, as a board member of the IOT at TUBraunschweig, the candidate will contribute to the university’s strategic development, representing the field of Thin Film Technology in teaching, research, and technology management. Key research areas include vapor deposition techniques, surface modification, micro-/nanostructuring, and surface analytics technologies.
