The position will be based in the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
The position is to be taken by April 1st, 2025.
An individual with research and teaching experience in at least one of the following areas of focus is sought : transportation supply, mobility data, mobility behaviour, network development, or road transport planning. A successful candidate will have a university degree in a relevant field such as the STEM disciplines, geography or spatial planning, in-depth research expertise in at least one methodological competency and be familiar with a broad range of other methodological approaches. The person should have in-depth knowledge of public transportation systems.
The School of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Wuppertal follows the societally driven demand for increased interdisciplinary education to promote building culture. The professorship is based in the Center for Mobility and Transport of the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering. This center of expertise comprises six university professorships and three honorary professorships and focuses on the integrated research and design of sustainable transport systems. The willingness to develop the professorship in research and teaching in interdisciplinary cooperation with colleagues within the school and in the Center for Mobility and Transport is required. The future holder of the position is expected to support the university profile line "Environment, Engineering and Safety" and the profile core "Mobility and Energy".
In addition to active acquisition of national and international external research funding, participation in an international orientation of research is expected. Furthermore, the future holder of the position should be actively involved in the support of junior academics.
In teaching, the professorship is to represent the field of planning of multimodal transport in its entire breadth. The responsibilities include :

Besides pedagogical suitability, which has to be proven by appropriate previous experience or, in exceptional cases, demonstrated by excellent performance during the appointment procedure, the applicant is expected to have a particular aptitude for scientific work substantiated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate. Further scientific achievements must be demonstrated additionally and will be evaluated exclusively and comprehensively during the appointment procedure. The requirements for appointment to a first professorship include junior professorships, habilitations, employment as a research assistant at a university or at a non-university research institution and scientific positions in business, in administration or another social field in Germany or abroad.
The successful candidate is expected to actively support academic self-governance at the university.
