Professor (m/f/d) for Business Analytics and Econometrics

Your Responsibilities

We are looking for a new colleague to join our faculty in Potsdam and Berlin on a full-time basis, starting in October 2025.

The opportunity: The purpose of this position is to contribute to the academic excellence and strategic development of Gisma University of Applied Sciences through high-quality teaching, impactful research, and active participation in the academic community. The successful candidate will shape and deliver innovative programmes in Business Analytics and Econometrics, focusing on integrating practical, data-driven approaches into the curriculum. This role offers the chance to engage with an international student body, collaborate with industry and research partners, and influence data-centric education in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.

Your responsibilities include:

• Teaching Gisma’s Bachelor and Master programmes in Business Analytics, Econometrics, and related areas, including examination, assessments, and student supervision.
• Participating in programme development, quality assurance, and curriculum enhancement with advanced analytics.
• Creating and adapting teaching materials aligned with developments in data-driven finance and technology.
• Establishing and maintaining collaborations with industry and research partners, especially in FinTech and financial modelling.
• Participating in accreditation procedures and contributing to academic administration and committees.
• Developing a research profile in Business Analytics, Econometrics, or Data-Driven Finance, publishing in high-quality journals, and engaging in public dissemination.
• Involvement in outreach activities, including student recruitment and promotion of data-oriented study tracks.

Your profile

Applicants must meet the requirements outlined in Section 41 ff of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG). Additionally, candidates should demonstrate:

• Completed university studies in Econometrics, Business Analytics, Statistics, or Economics.
• Experience in developing and adapting teaching materials in business analytics, econometrics, and financial technologies.
• Proof of outstanding qualification for scientific work, such as an excellent doctorate or a strong publication record.
• At least three years of professional experience post-master’s, including two outside academia.
• Proven university teaching experience with excellent pedagogical skills, including blended and online methodologies.
• A strong interest in digitalisation and data analytics in finance and economics.
• Fluency in English for teaching and research; international experience is highly valued.
• A publication record in applied econometrics, statistical learning, or financial analytics.
• Experience in leading research projects and securing third-party funding.
• Innovative ideas for advancing research and curriculum development in Business Analytics and Econometrics.
• Experience with curriculum development and accreditation processes is advantageous.
