Position

Production Planner

Location

Oberndorf am Neckar, Germany

Type

Weekly 35 working hours

Tasks
  • Plan for specific materials and parts (e.g., auxiliary and operating supplies, spare parts, production parts, consumables, tools) based on demand reports from the departments or computer-aided systems (e.g., exploded bills of materials, orders, Kanban) and inventory‑and consumption-driven data and information. Correct obvious errors. Interpret, compile, and, if necessary, reconcile reports (quality, quantity, or schedule variances) and make corrections. Estimate requirements based on past consumption or empirical values.
  • Specify and forward demand requests, taking into account on‑hand and ordered inventory levels as well as the delivery lead time.
  • For existing framework agreements, initiate delivery calls directly.
  • Create nomenclature and classification criteria (e.g., internal coding, clustering) within the specified system. Maintain master data.
  • Check material specifications and documentation for accuracy and completeness; adjust them according to specifications if necessary.
  • Determine and prepare key metrics, etc. (e.g., safety stock levels, inventory costs), and present them as needed.
  • Write reports, memos, and notes according to specified guidelines; compile statistics.
  • Obtain quotes (e.g., from catalogs or in response to requests for proposals) from known suppliers and perform a preliminary selection. Place orders following the decision of the relevant department. Place repeat orders for commonly used materials and parts. Suggest price adjustments in the event of quantity changes. Track delivery dates and file complaints if necessary. Resolve quantity discrepancies based on feedback from internal departments.
  • In the event of discrepancies, suggest sourcing similar parts from other suppliers at more favorable terms if appropriate.
Requirements
  • Carrying out procurement planning, soliciting and comparing quotes, and placing orders requires knowledge and skills equivalent to a 3-year vocational training program (e.g., industrial clerk).
  • Knowledge of the operational processes involved in carrying out procurement planning requires up to 2 years of experience.
  • Carrying out procurement planning and placing orders, as well as adjusting prices in response to changes in quantity, requires the application of standardized solutions.
  • Carrying out procurement planning, preselecting quotes, resolving quantity discrepancies, and proposing price adjustments require discretion in handling individual subtasks.
  • Coordinating the execution of procurement planning, clarifying discrepancies, and addressing schedule deviations requires coordination on routine, specific issues.
