• 3-5 years of professional experience in mechanical or interdisciplinary engineering roles in industrial or manufacturing environments; experience in food production, FMCG, or other hygiene‑critical industries is a strong plus.
• Strong cross‑disciplinary technical skills—from CAD‑based design through fabrication and prototyping to hands‑on troubleshooting of mechanical and automated equipment.
• Experience with commissioning machinery or production lines and a structured, quality‑focused approach to technical documentation; knowledge of Machinery Directive and CE marking is a plus.
• Proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with the ability to adapt quickly in a fast‑paced startup environment.
• Strong communication in English and German.

Aufgaben

• Design, build, and optimize mechatronic systems for production facilities.
• Mechanical design & prototyping using CAD; build and test prototypes on the shop floor and iterate based on feedback.
• Commissioning of new machinery and production lines; support ramp‑up until target output is reached.
• Project management: plan scoping and timelines; coordinate with production, quality, and R&D; track progress and flag risks.
• Troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical, mechatronic, and automation equipment to minimize downtime.

In this role, you'll design, build, and optimize mechatronic systems that integrate mechanical assemblies, electrical controls, and sensor technology into seamless production solutions. You'll work at the intersection of our mechanical and automation engineering teams—turning concepts into reliable, high‑performing equipment for our Berlin-based production facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Mechanical Design & Prototyping: design and prototype mechanical components and custom fixtures using CAD to support new equipment, upgrades, and process improvements; build and test prototypes on the shop floor and iterate based on real feedback before finalizing designs.
• Commissioning: support commissioning of new machinery and production lines, including installation, functional testing, and troubleshooting startup issues; remain involved through ramp‑up until the line reliably hits target output.
• Project Management: plan and execute engineering projects from scoping and timelines through cross‑functional coordination with production, quality, and R&D to final delivery; track progress, flag risks early, and keep stakeholders aligned.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, mechatronic, and automation issues on production equipment to minimize downtime; diagnose root causes, apply fixes, and feed learnings back into preventive maintenance.
• Supplier Management: support and manage relationships with equipment and component suppliers, including sourcing, requesting quotes, and evaluating options against our requirements; act as the technical point of contact for follow‑ups, repairs, and warranty issues.
• Continuous Improvement: drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment performance, throughput, and reliability; use downtime and performance data to identify bottlenecks and validate the impact of changes.
• Technical Documentation: create and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, maintenance plans, drawings, and equipment records; keep documentation current as equipment and processes evolve.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: collaborate closely with production, quality, and R&D teams to support day‑to‑day manufacturing operations; act as an engineering point of contact on the floor and help translate new processes into production‑ready setups.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: a degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a qualification in a related field.
• Professional Experience: 3‑5 years of professional experience in mechanical or interdisciplinary engineering roles in industrial or manufacturing environments; experience in food production, FMCG, or other hygiene‑critical industries is a strong plus.
• Interdisciplinary Technical Skills: strong cross‑disciplinary technical skills—from CAD‑based mechanical design through fabrication and prototyping to hands‑on troubleshooting of mechanical and automated equipment.
• Project Management Skills: experience with supplier management and coordination of technical development topics with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Engineering Processes: experience with commissioning of machinery or production lines and a structured, quality‑focused approach to technical documentation; understanding of European and German machinery safety requirements (Machinery Directive, CE marking) is a plus.
• Operational Agility: a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with the ability to adapt quickly in a fast‑paced, dynamic startup environment.
• Language Proficiency: strong communication skills in both English and German are a must.
