Set the long-term product strategy for VCS and code-change workflows across all JetBrains IDEs; Identify gaps in current developer workflows and define new product directions in the VCS space; Explore opportunities including cross-IDE VCS clients, host-neutral code reviews, AI-native review, and authorship tracking; Analyze community and industry feedback to define product priorities; Align roadmap decisions across product, engineering, design, marketing, developer advocacy, partnership, and customer-facing teams; Balance user value, technical constraints, and platform health with engineering and quality leads; Shape external positioning and represent the VCS direction in discussions with customers and the developer tools community; Define the future direction of VCS, Git, and code review experiences; Develop a product vision covering local merges, remote workflows, containerized workflows, and AI-assisted workflows; Address provenance tracking and reviews of AI-generated changes across different environments.
Collaborative mindset for working with engineering and quality teams on deeply technical challenges; Strong product judgment in ambiguous areas and emerging ecosystems; Ability to identify opportunities for entirely new workflows; Clear communication with internal stakeholders and technical users; Data-informed decision-making using usage metrics, customer feedback, and market signals; Interest in how AI is changing software development; Motivation to improve solutions rather than copy existing approaches; Previous success leading product direction and strategy for technically complex developer tools, SCM, CI/CD, or code collaboration software; Ability to translate intricate developer workflows into clear product roadmaps; Experience aligning stakeholders across product, engineering, marketing, and developer advocacy; Deep understanding of version control mechanics, code-change workflows, and software delivery practices; Based in the EU, ideally Munich, Prague, Amsterdam, Berlin, or Belgrade, or able to work remotely within the EU; Ability to travel to JetBrains offices as needed; Nice to have: Familiarity with complex merges, monorepos, and enterprise or self-hosted setups.
