Job summary

Leggett Dynamics in Nürnberg, Germany is seeking a Product Engineer (m/f/d) to join our Engineering team and support our automotive business. You will develop motor solutions and bring concepts into series production.

You will design DC motors, perform simulations, create CAD drawings, validate prototypes, and coordinate with customers and partners in international teams. A degree and 5+ years of motor development are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in motor or actuator development, ideally automotive.
• Strong expertise in motor design, simulations and drive technology.
• Experience with CAD systems, preferably CATIA V5.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in international teams.
• Good German and English language skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and development of DC motors (brushed and brushless) and geared motors, optimizing performance, cost, package space and acoustics.
• Perform electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical calculations and oversee simulations.
• Create technical documentation, CAD models and engineering drawings.
• Develop new products and optimize existing ones for performance, NVH and manufacturability.
• Build, support and validate prototypes, analyze test data and support production launches and improvements.
• Coordinate technical topics with customers, suppliers and development partners.
• Provide technical guidance to design engineers, electronics engineers and the test department.
• Manage and coordinate activities within international development projects.

We, at Leggett Dynamics, are searching for a Product Engineer(m/f/d) within our Engineering team to help support our Automotive business. As a Product Engineer(m/f/d) you will play a key role in developing the next generation of motor solutions and bringing new concepts into series production. Your work will directly influence product performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability while helping us meet customer requirements in a competitive market. You will be part of a collaborative engineering team, working across disciplines to solve technical challenges and deliver robust, high-quality products.

Additionally, You'll

• Design and development of DC motors (brushed and brushless) and geared motors, including optimization with respect to performance, efficiency, cost, package space, and acoustics
• Perform electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical calculations and oversee simulation activities
• Create technical documentation, CAD models, and engineering drawings
• Develop new products and optimize existing products with regard to performance, NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), and manufacturability
• Build, support, and validate prototypes, as well as analyze test data and support production launch activities and continuous product improvements
• Analyze test data and support series production launches and product improvements
• Coordinate technical topics with customers, suppliers, and development partners
• Provide technical guidance and support to design engineers, electronics engineers, and the test engineering department
• Manage and coordinate technical activities within international development projects

To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable qualification
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in motor or actuator development, ideally within the automotive industry
• Strong expertise in motor design and calculations, simulation, and drive technology, as well as materials engineering and manufacturing technologies
• Experience with CAD systems, preferably CATIA V5
• Knowledge of materials engineering and manufacturing technologies
• Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented approach to work
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in international teams
• Good German and English language skills
• Automotive industry experience is preferred
