Job summary

Magna Seating in Munich seeks a skilled Mechanical/Automotive Engineer to drive seating system design and development. You will create and release BOMs, plan CAD tasks (2D/3D), and support DFMEA across projects with internal and external partners.

Applicants should have a degree in mechanical/automotive engineering, strong CATIA experience, and English language proficiency. Chinese language skills are required for stakeholder collaboration, with a proactive, team-oriented mindset and willingness

Job Responsibilities

Your Responsibilities

• Develop tailored technical concepts that meet customer needs and comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, in close collaboration with customers, internal teams, and Sales
• Support the development and design of new products in the area of automotive seating systems and components, while considering internal and external value creation targets
• Create, verify, and release Bills of Materials (BOMs) for complete seat systems and prepare assembly/build specifications for handover to the JIT plant
• Plan, coordinate, and verify CAD-based design activities (2D & 3D) in cooperation with internal and external partners and customers, covering both complete seat systems and individual components
• Support and participate in Design FMEAs (D-FMEA) according to VDA standards for complete seat systems and individual components, including internal and external presentation of results
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of project plans for seat development and monitor agreed timelines and milestones
• Manage engineering changes by planning, coordinating, developing, and releasing required modifications and monitoring their timely implementation
• Prepare and maintain product data, manage data releases, and coordinate engineering changes for components and complete seat systems in internal and external PLM systems

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Product Engineering, or a comparable technical field
• Alternatively, a technical qualification such as state-certified technician or a comparable background
• Recent graduates and early-career candidates are very welcome to apply
• Chinese language skills are required for regular communication and collaboration with Chinese-speaking stakeholders
• Very good English language skills are required
• Good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical design principles
• Knowledge of engineering design methods, simulation techniques, value analysis, and Design of Experiments (DoE) is an advantage
• Initial knowledge or practical experience in creating manufacturing- and standards-compliant technical designs and drawings is beneficial
• Knowledge of automotive seating design and/or CATIA is an advantage
• Familiarity with quality and engineering methods such as FMEA, GD&T, APQP, and PPAP is beneficial
• Experience with 2D and 3D CAD tools, ideally CATIA, through professional experience, internships, university projects, or similar practical exposure
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Proactive, structured, and independent working style
• Strong team player with a hands-on attitude and willingness to learn
