Product Development and Operations – Consumables Manager (m/f/d)

In our R&D RRP (reduced-risk products) Product Development department, there is an open position for a Product Development Manager (m/f/d) based in Trier. Your job mission: The incumbent contributes to developing, modifying, and maintaining new Heated Tobacco Products – in particular Heated Tobacco Sticks.

The incumbent is responsible for assigned product development and maintenance, as well as project management. Your tasks:

  1. Leading assigned projects to develop and execute test designs using tobaccos, materials, and processes most economically.
  2. Initiating the preparation of consumer tests and evaluating the results of product strengths and weaknesses.
  3. Preparing product specifications, following up on product changes to the industrial manufacturing stage, and maintaining product ownership on assigned projects.
  4. Initiating and supervising testing for technical directions on development projects.
  5. Ensuring communication on product development and maintenance to the global supply chain and stakeholders.
  6. Managing the implementation of product/specification changes in cooperation with technical departments and input into SAP.

Your profile:

  • Relevant educational background: University degree (Bachelors or PhD), preferably in Chemistry, Food Technology, or Agronomy, or equivalent education.
  • Practical experience: Several years in product development, preferably in tobacco or FMCG industry.
  • Valuable knowledge: Understanding of tobacco, markets, casing, flavor, cigarette components, and designs is a plus.
  • Special strengths: Interest in sensory evaluation of tobacco products. Solid knowledge of common PC software applications.
  • Suitable personality: Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, good communication and presentation skills, team-oriented, open-minded, eager to learn, flexible.
  • Language skills: Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are advantageous.
