Position Title : Process Engineer Technical Operations CE (CAPEX)

Mission : The Technical Operations CAPEX Process Engineer participates in end-to-end capital support for capital projects, ensuring they meet critical success factors and utilize optimal technologies. They lead CQV and support SUM to ensure seamless transitions between functions and to build a flexible, globally servicing team.

Key Responsibilities :

Process Design and Specifications

  • Support the development of mass balance for process flow design and URS following global standards.
  • Refer to completed drawings, technical details, Commissioning (CQV) checklists, and FDS (Functional Design Specifications) within assigned packages.

Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate with engineering, technical, and operational stakeholders to include User Requirements feedback and alignment with the team.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management team to ensure best practices are followed, covering scope, time, cost, quality, and risk management.
  • Provide updates to the project team and escalate issues to the Tech Ops Capital Manager or the project team when support is needed.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure safety is a priority in both designs and execution of commissioning.
  • Build and maintain a safe and healthy working environment by applying McCain and local policies and regulations.

Commissioning and Start-up Support

  • Monitor the processing equipment installation daily to identify potential deficiencies.
  • Communicate issues to the Tech Ops Capital Manager and work on solutions.
  • Support Technical Operations Module Leaders in executing commissioning and provide start-up support.
  • Identify potential delays in the commissioning process and propose solutions.

Risk Management

  • Highlight risks through the project risk management process and report to the Tech Ops Capital Manager.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in manufacturing, R&D, technical operations, or technical support in the food manufacturing industry, preferably in potato processing.
  • Extensive experience in design, execution (CQV), and startup phases of major capital projects in the potato processing industry.
  • Strong technical aptitude in mechanical, electrical engineering, and/or plant automation, with the ability to improve process efficiencies (Process engineering).
  • Experience with electrical and control systems design and programming.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and abstract thinking skills.
  • Ability to understand process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and process narratives.
  • Experience in training and facilitation.
  • Knowledge of processing equipment, processing methods, manufacturing philosophies, and SOPs.
  • Expertise in validation and effectiveness of new technologies.
  • Experience with startup management and equipment commissioning.
  • Proficiency in English and German (written and spoken).
  • Autonomous, agile, accountable, data-driven, problem-solving, coaching skills.
  • Principles of training people.
  • Project management and presentation skills.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
  • Strong computer skills and statistical analysis.
