This role is based in Oelde, Germany. Amazon is seeking Site Process Engineers to work in the EU Process Engineering (EU PE) team. The Site Process Engineer is an onsite position. The EU PE team is a group of operational leaders driving process stabilization, standardization, and continuous improvement for the EU Customer Fulfilment Network. This team is essential to establish best-in-class process performance across all different direct and indirect processes, accelerate implementation of technological advancements, and strengthen the technical acumen and process knowledge for operational leaders across the Fulfillment Center (FC) network.

EU PE ensures operations teams are equipped with the expertise to deliver gains from technology advances and network-wide process improvements. The team drives process control, minimizes variation, and collaborates closely with Process System Engineering, ACES PM, Central Ops, launch teams, operations engineering, and RME teams to improve process input metrics.

The Site Process Engineer works alongside the FC Senior Leadership Team and collaborates with EU PE functions. Responsibilities include deploying initiatives, building networks within the FC, and driving compliance within set timelines. The role involves initiating and implementing EU-wide improvement activities, demonstrating ownership, understanding initiatives in detail, and influencing results to achieve tangible productivity and efficiency gains in the FC.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Back to Basics (B2B) initiatives: Identify opportunities by comparing FC processes with EU benchmarks, focus on bottom 50% processes, analyze performance, develop improvement plans, and collaborate with local management. Oversee improvement programs, review action plans weekly, and leverage expertise from regional PE functions.
  2. Continuous Improvement: Implement network best practices, capture and scale FC innovations, and ensure major projects are included in the Operating Plan.
  3. Deployment of initiatives: Ensure timely and compliant execution of EU network initiatives, support test and pilot phases, and facilitate project reviews across EU FCs.
  4. Partnership with FC Ops: Participate in daily Gemba walks, organize weekly leadership meetings, and build strong relationships with Site Leaders and Senior Management. Support ad hoc process tasks as needed.
  5. Project leadership: Support or lead EU projects, expand scope, and coordinate multiple FCs to enhance project management skills.
  6. Operational support: Be prepared to support site management operations as needed, including regional travel (0-10%).
Qualifications
  • Degree from an accredited institution
  • Fluent in English and German (C1 level)
  • Experience in operations as an Area Manager or similar role
  • Technical knowledge of at least one Fulfillment process path (certified)
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen methodologies
  • Knowledge of change management and continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and motivate teams
