A leading public charter school is seeking a principal to oversee day-to-day operations in a hybrid and online setting. CVA has an opening for a principal, focused on the day to day operations of a K-12 hybrid and 100% online school. The ideal candidate is skilled in academic and system wide leadership focused on the overall student and staff experience. Knowledge and experience in face-to-face and online instruction techniques in addition to working with a neurodivergent student population. A leader who is always seeking new ways to motivate and challenge students and staff and meet the community needs through achieving the school's mission and vision.
Job responsibilities:
School Leadership
-Ability to provide visionary and strategic leadership
-Commitment to educational equity/commitment to addressing issues of systemic inequality with a lens of Cultural Proficiency
-Act at all times in the best interests of the health and safety of students and staff.
-Represent the school positively and professionally in all interactions and environments.
-Monitor and enforce all school policies as applicable.
-Consistent involvement in CVA events and activities
-Support and promote the culture of CVA
-In collaboration with the Assistant Director, Student Services Coordinator, and Special Education Director, review transcripts and other paperwork of incoming students to ensure students’ needs are understood and planned to be addressed.
-Coordinate with Q-Comp team to identify professional development needs
-In collaboration with the Student Services Coordinator, coordinate high school testing and ensure all students are meeting all testing requirements.
-Comply with all relevant state and federal laws pertaining to teacher evaluation, academic standards, professional development and related areas
-Support data collection and writing of required information for MDE, Authorizer, Accreditation reports such as MCCC reporting, MARSS reporting, PowerSchool management & development, transcript generation and annual reports.
-Continually demonstrate the MN Standards of Effective Practice (MN Rule 8710.2000).
-Comply with the Minnesota Code of Ethics for Administrators
-Other duties as assigned by the director
Academic Leadership
-Analyze data from standardized tests and prepare summaries for reports and presentations
-Assist teachers in analysis of data from classroom assessments
-Assist teachers with the use of data in the classroom, including MAP and MCA
-Monitor curriculum for MN State Standards, scope and sequence development and implementation
-Develop curriculum documentation for institutional memory and alignment to MN State Standards
-Develop high school program and course catalog
-Monitor the development and evaluate new electives for inclusion in the curriculum
-Support the development of and teacher compliance with Google Classroom standards
-Coordinate PSEO program and assist students and families in understanding their options and how to pursue them.
-Oversee referrals for extended school year programs
-Oversee Summer School options for K - 12 students
-Oversee kindergarten entrance for all students
School Wide & Student Support
-Provide instructional coaching and mentorship in on-campus and online environments
-Lead staff members in the development of their personal learning plans
-Evaluate teaching staff in accordance with established evaluation plans and state laws
-Work with building teams to analyze academic, behavior, and attendance data through a cultural lens (factors involving racial, gender, socioeconomic, etc.) to provide accurate consultation and develop action plans to ensure educational equity for all students and make appropriate and achievable goals toward eliminating the achievement gap.
-Develop relationships with colleges and employers to assist students in identifying and pursuing internship programs or other opportunities.
-Coordinate supervision and safety during regular school day: such as bussing, before school, lunch, recess, after school and all school sponsored activities with the Assistant Director
-School wide data collection and reporting related to behavior, academics, attendance and SEL needs
-Participate in IEP, 504, problem-solving, and related meetings for individual students in cases where significant contributions can be made.
-504 Plan Coordinator
-Oversee student discipline, behavior and attendance
-Assist teachers and other staff members in establishing and enforcing classroom and out-of-class behavior expectations for students.
-Regularly communicate with parents regarding their student’s academic and behavioral growth, achievement and challenges.
-Develop Professional Development in alignment with Core Practices (Culturally Responsive -Instruction, Restorative Practices and Engagement leading to Empowerment)
-Support advisors to create four-year graduation plans, transition plans and Individualized -Learning Plans to ensure all graduation requirements are planned for and addressed.
-Assist students in applying for scholarships, college admissions, military, jobs and other post-secondary options.
-Assist with the marketing and promotion of CVA at marketing fairs and open houses.
-Provide tours and orientations for prospective and new families.
-Desire and ability to help learners recognize the value of individual difference, achieve success in their work and identify their roles in an ever changing world
-Post-baccalaureate work in education. Masters Degree preferred
-Administrative License preferred
-High degree of integrity and professionalism
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Excellent attention to detail, deadlines and legal requirements
-Able to manage multiple tasks and relationships
-Strong foundational knowledge of teaching and learning
-Strong facilitation of consensus-building skills
-Successful experience as an administrator is preferred.
-Demonstrated leadership in school management, curriculum, instruction and staff development
-Experienced in online education and instructional technology
-Ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds
