Datadog is looking for a dynamic and experienced Principal Sales Engineer to join our growing team. As a Principal Sales Engineer, you will provide technical expertise through sales presentations, product demonstrations, industry speaking events, executive meetings, and product evaluations. You will play a critical role in understanding customers' needs, demonstrating the value of our platform to prospective clients, and ensuring a seamless transition from sales to implementation.

What You'll Do :

  • Develop and maintain strong knowledge of Datadog's product offerings, observability trends, common architectures, and provide guidance to prospective customers and internal sales teams.
  • Contribute to the success of strategic sales opportunities by collaborating with the account team to devise and enhance sales strategies, offer industry expertise, and provide mentorship throughout the sales cycle.
  • Deliver tailored customer demos, executive briefings, and product training sessions to ensure prospective customers have a comprehensive understanding of our offerings.
  • Contribute to use cases, best practices, trends, and product positioning to Datadog's sales strategy.
  • Assist in developing strategies for entering new markets.
  • Work alongside account teams to build relationships with customers (CIOs, CTOs, Architects, Technical staff, and business representatives) as they modernize their observability with Datadog.
  • Proactively engage with customers and Datadog's sales and sales engineering teams regarding product feedback and the competitive landscape.

Who You Are :

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Sales Engineering or as a Chief Technology Officer deploying observability and security technology.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and desire to make a significant impact.
  • Passionate about educating customers on observability and security risks relevant to their business, capable of building and executing evaluation plans.
  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape, including solutions' capabilities and offerings.
  • Experience in programming/scripting languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, PHP, .NET, etc.
  • Extensive background in enterprise positioning and value selling across lines of business.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% via auto train or air.
