Description du poste

At Bayer, we believe work should matter. Every day, our teams push toward a future where "Health for all, Hunger for none" is within reach, and every role, from the lab to the field to the boardroom, helps us get there. We give people the ownership to shape outcomes, the support to grow through new skills and experiences, and a global community where different perspectives are valued. If you want your work to count and the room to become your best, you'll find it here.

Principal Portfolio Strategist (all genders)

Are you passionate about identifying new growth opportunities and shaping the future of Radiology? In this role, you will leverage strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and deep market insights to evaluate emerging opportunities, challenge assumptions, and support high-impact business decisions. Working across functions and leadership levels, you will help translate complex market, scientific, and business developments into actionable strategies that drive long-term value creation and strengthen Bayer's competitive position.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • You will drive the strategic assessment and prioritization of new growth opportunities in Radiology, with a particular focus on molecular imaging, by evaluating customer and patient needs, market dynamics, scientific advancements, competitive trends, reimbursement landscapes, and Bayer's strategic fit
  • You will develop opportunity theses, growth strategies, and value-creation pathways, including organic growth, partnerships, licensing opportunities, business development initiatives, and ecosystem collaborations
  • You will build and maintain a robust fact base on molecular imaging and adjacent growth areas, covering technologies, clinical pathways, competitors, emerging business models, and value pools to support evidence-based decision making
  • You will partner with cross-functional stakeholders across business, R&D, medical, commercial, regulatory, market access, product supply, finance, and business development to translate insights into actionable strategic choices
  • You will identify critical uncertainties, define learning agendas, and establish clear decision points to efficiently mature strategic opportunities and investments
  • You will support high-priority portfolio, innovation, business, and operating-model initiatives across Radiology by structuring complex challenges, developing hypotheses, and creating decision frameworks that enable effective problem solving
  • You will conduct and guide rigorous qualitative and quantitative analyses, including market assessments, competitor evaluations, scenario planning, capability reviews, portfolio analyses, strategic fit assessments, and risk evaluations
  • You will synthesize complex information into clear strategic implications, options, trade-offs, and recommendations for senior leadership and governance bodies
  • You will strengthen decision quality by ensuring strategic recommendations are built on robust evidence, transparent assumptions, credible alternatives, and clearly defined decision criteria
  • You will facilitate cross-functional discussions and strategic workshops, challenge assumptions constructively, align diverse stakeholder perspectives, and support informed decision making without exercising direct decision authority
  • You will build trusted relationships with senior leaders and subject matter experts, communicate complex topics to diverse audiences, and integrate external perspectives where specialized expertise is required
  • You will contribute to the continuous development of Bayer's strategy capabilities by sharing methodologies, frameworks, best practices, and lessons learned across the organization
WHO YOU ARE
  • You have an advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, engineering, business, economics, or a related field; a combination of scientific and business expertise is highly valued
  • You bring substantial experience in strategy, corporate development, management consulting, business development, portfolio management, innovation, or a similar strategic role within healthcare or life sciences
  • You possess hands‑on experience in biotech M&A activities, including due diligence, asset evaluation, company assessments, and investment decision processes
  • You have several years of experience in the molecular imaging industry in the areas of M&A, paired with a demonstrated ability to develop depth in new domains
  • You have a proven track record of leading complex strategic projects and supporting high‑impact decisions in global, matrixed organizations
  • You apply advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills, including hypothesis‑driven thinking, market assessment, scenario planning, financial evaluation, and strategic decision analysis
  • You can integrate scientific, clinical, commercial, technological, financial, and operational perspectives into clear strategic recommendations
  • You excel at stakeholder management, facilitation, and executive communication, and are comfortable influencing senior leaders through expertise and credibility rather than authority
  • You demonstrate intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, learning agility, and the ability to navigate uncertainty while maintaining a strong focus on business outcomes
  • You communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are considered an advantage
