About The Role

Do you have an extensive legal background and the ability to lead a high-performing legal team? Would you like to be a senior, visible legal voice contributing to an organisation making an impact to end the devastation of dementia?

We are recruiting for a Principal Legal Advisor to join on a full-time basis, working 35 hours per week on a permanent contract.

As Principal Legal Advisor, you will join the Risk and Assurance team within our Finance & Assurance directorate. Our vision is to be the Society’s single point of truth. We are trusted partners, credible experts, working as one team to enable the organisation to make an impact to end dementia.

Partnership, collaboration, accountability, professionalism, and a restless desire to improve are essential in every role across Finance & Assurance. You will work closely with key stakeholders across Directorates to deliver a professional, credible, and valued legal service and opinion.

You will be a senior, visible legal voice in the Society, influencing and ensuring the Society operates safely, legally, and ethically. You will provide advice on commercial, contract, and property-related legal matters, shaping risk-informed decision-making.

Interviews are provisionally scheduled for Wednesday 10th September.

About you

You will have an extensive legal background with a legal qualification and broad legal leadership experience. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships and trust are essential.

You should be able to understand complex legal issues within a large organisation and provide pragmatic, user-friendly legal advice, including ad hoc oral guidance.

Leadership skills are crucial, including managing a high-performing legal team and working collaboratively to achieve outcomes, even under time constraints.

What you’ll focus on:

  • Leading and managing the legal team to provide timely, professional legal advice aligned with the Society’s needs.
  • Managing a portfolio of legal matters as they arise.
  • Partnering with Society stakeholders to ensure visibility and appropriate consideration of legal issues.
  • Providing accessible legal guidance to Executive management and Trustees.
  • Contributing to Society projects and initiatives where legal input adds value.
