The Position

You'll be joining 250 engineers across Frontend, Backend, SRE and QA. We're organised into cross-functional development teams assigned to specific product areas. Our backend is built with Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database. We use React and Next.js for our frontend. Gitlab is used as a version control tool and a CI/CD solution. Our applications are hosted on AWS. We fully rely on our CI for deployments and deploy multiple times per day. We're organized into cross-functional development teams assigned to specific verticals. As the first Principal Engineer at Remote, you will partner closely with 15 staff engineers across the business.

What you bring

• You have experience as a Principal Engineer or in a similar seniority role, with a history of building, maintaining, and scaling complex software and systems.
• Experience in scaling software systems to accommodate a growing number of contributors and teams.
• A track record of mentoring and fostering the development of fellow engineers, and influencing engineering teams and projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a strategic and pragmatic approach to challenges, driving innovation and efficiency.

Remote Compensation Philosophy

Remote's goal is to ensure fair, unbiased compensation and fair equity pay along with competitive benefits in all locations. We do not support or encourage cheap-labor practices and pay above in-location rates. Our salary bands are based on geo ranges considering geographic pay differentials as part of our global strategy. The base salary range for this position is $98,650 to $222,000, depending on factors like location, skills, experience, and market demands. The actual pay will be determined accordingly and may change.
