Group Audit (GA) serves as Deutsche Bank's independent Third Line of Defense, proactively assisting the bank's business and infrastructure areas to identify control weaknesses. Comprising around 700 staff, our global connectivity provides a stimulating environment and the opportunity to collaborate, network and share knowledge with colleagues and specialists around the world.


GA is searching for a Principal Audit Analyst, based in Berlin, as part of the GA Middle East & Africa (MEA) Team. The GA MEA Team conducts audits and reviews in various businesses (Corporate Bank, Investment Bank, and Private Bank) and functional areas across the region.


The Principal Audit Analyst works on supervised audit activities, undertaking audit work of specific business/functional areas in accordance with the audit methodology, and evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls. This role may require limited travel within the Middle East & Africa.

Your key responsibilities

Reporting to the Group Audit Country Head & Principal Audit Manager for Middle East & Africa (MEA), the Berlin-based Principal Audit Analyst supports audits of various businesses, functional areas, and countries. The key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the audit team and executing audit work in line with the agreed approach, such as documenting process flows, identifying key risks, testing key controls for effectiveness, and documenting work according to divisional standards.
  • Building knowledge of the audit methodology to deliver high-quality audit working papers.
  • Proactively developing and maintaining professional relationships with subject matter experts and other teams across the function, and occasionally with other stakeholders.
  • Supporting the audit team in findings closure validation work and in preparing risk profiles for selected countries.
Your skills and experiences
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in business, economics, finance, law, or comparable fields (e.g., auditor certification, business law).
  • Strong English communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within Group Audit and with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of the banking risk and control environment, with knowledge or interest in Corporate, Investment, or Private Banking.
  • At least two years of experience in audit-related assignments or second-level control activities, preferably in complex financial services environments.
  • Confidence, drive, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a focus on delivery under pressure.
  • Excellent team-working capabilities and the ability to build strong team relationships.
  • A willingness to accept responsibility and effectively deliver on commitments within budget, ensuring timely and efficient completion of audit projects.

This job is available in full and part-time.
