NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking an experienced Practice Development Support Nurse (Band 6) to drive nursing practice development and lead workforce initiatives across inpatient and community mental health services. The role supports frontline teams, promotes evidence-based care, and contributes to the NHSGGC Nursing & Midwifery Strategy: Leading the Way.

The post is permanent and based primarily in the Administration office, with flexibility to work across bases within NHSGGC.

The Role

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic mental health nurse to join the Mental Health Practice Development Nursing Team as a Practice Development Support Nurse (Band 6). This rewarding role is ideal for a senior nurse looking to develop expertise in practice development, project management and nursing leadership while supporting frontline nursing teams across a diverse range of inpatient and community mental health services. Working closely with the Practice Development Nurses, you will contribute to the delivery of the professional nursing workplan and support the implementation of the NHSGGC Nursing & Midwifery Strategy: Leading the Way. You will provide a visible clinical presence within services, supporting nurses to deliver high-quality, compassionate and person-centred care while promoting continuous improvement and professional development.

All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

This is a permanent post.

The post will be primarily based within the Administration office, PA16 0GP. Although as an integral member of the wider Mental Health Practice Development Nursing Team, you will be expected to work across a variety of Mental Health Services and utilise Practice Development Team bases throughout NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

Work Pattern

• Monday to Friday
• 9:00am to 5:00pm

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key Responsibilities

As a Practice Development Support Nurse, you will support the delivery of the Mental Health Practice Development Nursing workplan and contribute to nursing practice, quality improvement, education and service development initiatives. Working across inpatient and community mental health services, you will provide clinical support and guidance to frontline nursing staff, facilitate training sessions, promote evidence-based practice, and support the delivery of recovery-focused, person-centred care.

You will act as a positive role model, helping to develop and nurture nursing practice while contributing to service improvements that enhance patient care and outcomes. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, supporting workforce development activities and ensuring nursing standards remain aligned with organisational and professional objectives.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

• Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Significant post-registration experience within Mental Health Services.
• Demonstrable commitment to supporting and developing nursing practice.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Experience of facilitating or supporting staff training and development.
• Understanding of quality improvement methodologies and practice development principles.
• Knowledge of recovery-focused and person-centred approaches to mental health care.
• Ability to work effectively across inpatient and community settings.
• Experience of working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and digital communication platforms.
• Awareness of current professional, organisational and national mental health priorities.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
• Ability to act as a positive clinical role model and support quality nursing standards.
