Job Description:

A Snapshot of Your Day
As Expert in Power Systems and Integration of Power Electronic Devices, you will be at the forefront of modeling and analyzing the dynamic behavior of high-voltage AC power grids in conjunction with advanced power electronic systems. Your work will ensure that grid-connected converters for energy storage and generation comply with evolving grid codes and support grid-forming capabilities essential for the energy transition.

You will directly contribute to the realization of high-efficiency, high-reliability systems for grid integration, and industrial applications. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to define architectures, validate concepts, and drive innovation from research to product deployment.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Develop and validate detailed simulation models of high-voltage AC grids and their interaction with power electronic converters (e.g., MMC, VSC).
  • Analyze dynamic grid behavior under various operating conditions, including fault scenarios, frequency and voltage disturbances, and black-start capabilities.
  • Evaluate compliance with international and regional grid codes (e.g., ENTSO-E, IEEE, BDEW) and support certification processes.
  • Design and assess grid-forming and grid-following control strategies for converter-based resources.
  • Collaborate with hardware, control, and system engineering teams to ensure integrated system performance as well as with control and modulation experts to ensure seamless hardware-software co-design and system-level performance.
  • Support R&D and innovation projects with simulation-based insights and recommendations.
  • Document findings and contribute to technical publications, standards, and internal knowledge bases.
  • Contribute to R&D roadmaps, patent filings, and technical publications to position the organization as a leader in system integration and grid compliance.

What You Bring

  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
  • Strong background in power system simulation and power system dynamics.
  • Proven experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or EMTP.
  • Familiarity with grid code requirements and compliance testing for converter-based systems.
  • Knowledge of grid-forming inverter concepts and their role in future power systems.
  • Analytical approach, structured working style, and strong communication skills.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills at C1 level are appreciated for fluent communication in technical environments.
