Job summary

Nordex Group is seeking a Power Converter Engineer in Germany to lead converter development for wind turbines. You will coordinate supplier activities, define concepts and specs, and validate designs with suppliers and in test benches. Strong Matlab skills and English fluency are required.

The role emphasizes documenting specifications, supporting certification processes, and enhancing hardware simulations to ensure reliable converter performance in wind turbine systems.

Qualifications

• MSc or BSc in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems or related field.
• +3 years in the wind turbine sector.
• Experience with Matlab is a plus.
• Fluent level of English (C1 or above).
• For Spain: foreign qualifications and recognition as the corresponding Spanish degree equivalency are required when applying.

Responsibilities

• Act as the main technical focal point for converter suppliers, leading and coordinating all engineering activities related to power converter development and integration.
• Define the converter concept, architecture, and detailed technical specifications of power converters for Nordex WTGs ensuring alignment with power electrical system requirements.
• Develop converter subassembly designs, specifications, and validation plans, collaborating with suppliers and manufacturers on component qualification and testing.
• Create and maintain technical documentation related to the main converter, including specifications, manuals, instructions, and certification support documentation.
• Provide technical support for sourcing and certification activities, including identification and validation of alternative converter components and support for wind turbine certification processes.
• Perform and enhance hardware design simulations and simulation tools using Matlab-based environments to support converter development and validation.

• Act as the main technical focal point for converter suppliers, leading and coordinating all engineering activities related to power converter development and integration
• Define the converter concept, architecture, and detailed technical specifications of power converters for Nordex WTGs ensuring alignment with power electrical system requirements
• Develop converter subassembly designs, specifications, and validation plans, collaborating with suppliers and manufacturers on component qualification and testing
