Job Description
For our Detector group, we are seeking a candidate to contribute to the characterization and calibration of X-ray detectors at the European XFEL. The focus will be on calibrating the currently installed JUNGFRAU detectors and testing the upcoming new JUNGFRAU prototype.
- Participate in the setup and optimization of detector calibration and characterization systems.
- Participate in scientific experiments aimed at testing the new JUNGFRAU detector performances.
- Perform data analysis for detector calibration, characterization, and optimization.
- Develop ad-hoc algorithms for detector characterization and calibration.
- Support and advise beamline scientists and detector developers on calibration and characterization issues.
- Utilize and further develop the calibration infrastructure for XFEL detectors.
- Engage actively in user support provided by the Data Department for the instruments.
Qualifications
- PhD in physics or equivalent experience.
- Experience in calibration and characterization of advanced silicon X-ray and/or particle detectors is advantageous.
- Experience with detector operation at a light source is beneficial.
- Knowledge of detector front-end electronics and programming skills in Python are assets.
- Experience with detector or vacuum setup integration is desirable.
- Experience in simulation of detector response to X-rays is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in English as the working language.
