Jobbeschreibung

Job Advertisement HKI-19/2025

The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology (Leibniz-HKI) investigates the pathobiology of microorganisms and develops novel natural product-based anti-infectives. The Leibniz-HKI invites talented and highly qualified candidates to apply for a position as a

Postdoctoral Researcher (m/w/div) in Immunology of fungal infections

for two years initially.

Your tasks:

The successful candidate will investigate how the immune system responds to infection with the human pathogenic yeast Candida albicans. The goal is to identify and characterize the pathways that are dysfunctional in vulvovaginal candidiasis leading to immunopathology and more severe symptoms.

We seek applications from highly committed postdoctoral researchers with an outstanding scientific track record. Candidates with a background in microbiology, immunology, or biochemistry and enthusiasm for both translational science as well as molecular mechanisms are welcome to apply.

The Emmy Noether Junior Research Group Adaptive Pathogenicity Strategies of Dr. Mark S. Gresnigt is integrated into the Leibniz-HKI, embedded in an outstanding scientific environment with state-of-the-art research facilities and top equipment. The successful candidate is expected to actively collaborate within our interdisciplinary research community. She/he/they will be encouraged to participate in the structured postdoctoral program of the JSMC (Jena School for Microbial Communication).

We expect:

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in the Life Sciences, preferably in microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, or related disciplines.
  • An excellent track record in your research area as well as successful interdisciplinary cooperation.
  • The ability to work team-oriented as well as creatively and independently.
  • An integrative personality with enthusiasm for actively participating in the dynamic Leibniz-HKI community.
  • Practical experience in analysis of large datasets / transcriptomics is advantageous.

We offer:

  • A highly communicative atmosphere within a scientific network providing top-level research.
  • An outstanding scientific environment at the Beutenberg Campus providing state-of-the-art research facilities and a highly integrative network of life science groups.
  • Remuneration in accordance with German TV-L (salary agreement for public service employees).
  • Attractive staff benefits and a family-friendly working environment with flexible working options.
