Jobbeschreibung

For our FXE group we are looking for an:

  1. Analyze time-resolved X-ray diffraction data using automated peak detection and indexing techniques.
  2. Develop and assess methods for refining transient molecular structures with both established and customized software tools.
  3. Document and publish the methods developed for small molecule crystallography in this project.
  4. Collaborate closely with the FXE team to design ultrafast X-ray diffraction experiments.
  5. Participate in user experiments (including limited shift work) and in scientific activities of the group.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. PhD degree in physics, chemistry or in a related discipline.
  2. Demonstrated expertise in crystallography is essential. Especially advantageous is experience in method development and/or tackling challenging data sets involving textured powder diffraction, diffuse scattering, phase transitions or other advanced problems.
  3. Familiarity with a variety of crystallographic tools would also be beneficial, for example but not limited to CrystFEL, XDS, GSAS-II, Shelx, DIALS and cctbx.
  4. An active interest in ultrafast science would be an asset. Previous experience in this field is not required, but would be beneficial, as would experience with time-resolved experiments at a large facility.
  5. Proficiency in data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools is beneficial.
  6. Highly motivated for independent research and research in collaborative environment.
  7. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-lingual, multi-disciplinary team, with English as the working language.
