The European Alliance Against Depression (EAAD) is an international non-profit scientific organization with office locations in Leipzig and Frankfurt am Main, Germany. We work with our global network of partners from 30 organizations in 26 countries in Europe and beyond, to improve the care for patients with depressive disorders and to prevent suicidal behaviour. EAAD drives research, currently leading the following EU-funded projects:

  • MENTBEST – a consortium comprising 14 partners from 11 countries – aiming to support mental health via community-based interventions with a focus on vulnerable people and stressors related to rapid changing societies. Additionally, using individualized AI-enabled analyses, the possible benefits of long-term biosensor- and smartphone-based self-monitoring are being studied with a large randomized controlled trial.
  • MentBox – a consortium of 5 partners from 4 countries – aiming to identifying and adapt effective mental health interventions targeting depression, suicide, and non-clinical distress for vulnerable populations. The Modular Mental Health Toolbox (the digital MH-Toolbox), will guide EU Member States in implementing these interventions.
  • PROSPERH – consortium of 21 partners from 18 European countries and Australia – aiming to improve physical and mental health in changing work environments.
  • Lead and develop a mental health research group.
  • Lead grant applications, project implementation, evaluation, and publication of large-scale research projects related to depression and suicide prevention.
  • Represent the organization at networking events, foster strategic partnerships, and actively engage in professional networks.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff; coordinate the organization’s daily operations.
  • Develop comprehensive funding strategies, identify new revenue opportunities, and oversee fundraising initiatives.
  • Oversee all membership activities and optimize strategies to boost engagement and ongoing involvement.
