Job summary

The Institute for Cardiogenetics at UKSH invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioinformatics (m/f/d). The position focuses on inflammatory disease research, leveraging WGS and scRNA Seq data within PMI Cluster of Excellence and DZHK collaboration.

Qualifications

• PhD or minimum 3 years experience in bioinformatics or related field.
• Strong background in statistical genetics and omics data analysis.
• Experience with WGS and scRNA Seq data.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix, HPC, R, Python, workflow systems (Nextflow/Snakemake).
• Fluent in English; German knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Institute of Cardiogenetics

The position is based at the Institute of Cardiogenetics at the UKSH. The institute brings together experts in life science, bioinformatics, and cardiovascular medicine to advance the understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying heart disease and to translate these insights into preclinical approaches. The work will be carried out within the framework of the Precision Medicine in Chronic Inflammation (PMI) https://www.precisionmedicine.de/de/ueber-den-cluster , and in close collaboration with the Clinic of Dermatology at the USKH Campus Lübeck.

You will contribute to ambitious, collaborative projects focused primarily on inflammatory disease research.Join our team and support us from January 1st, 2027, initially limitsfor three years as Postdoctoral Researcher.

• Salary payment in accordance to remuneration group E13 TV-L, based on a fixed-term contract for 3 years

Your profile:

• A strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, data sciences, or a related field, with knowledge of biology, and aPhD (or a minimum of 3 yrs experience in the field) is required


• Statistical and bioinformatic skills, in particular analysis of human, in vitro, and in vivo omics datasets combined with hands‑on experience in experimental validation of genetic and molecular findings


• Experience in applying statistical methods from genetic epidemiology


• Expertise in Linux/Unix environment, HPC clusters, proficiency in R, Python, and practical knowledge of reproducible workflow systems (e.g. Nextflow, Snakemake) and version control tools is appreciated


• Strong communication skills, with a passion for interdisciplinary teamwork, as well as fluency in English; knowledge of German is an advantage
